Things to consider before you get started
Before you dive into lighting the hot tub, there are a few things worth considering:
Timing is Key: Depending on the season, it typically takes 2-3 hours to heat the tub to the perfect temperature. Planning ahead will ensure you can enjoy it when you want!
Clean the Burner: Check the burner for any debris like ash and clean it out if needed. You'll find a metal bin provided at the rear of your accommodation for disposing of any waste.
Water Level: Never light a wood-burning hot tub without water. Ensure the tub is filled to an appropriate level, above the top heat hole, to maintain safe operation throughout your soak.

Time to light it!
Here's a step-by-step guide to lighting your wood-fired hot tub:
1. Firelighters and Kindling:
Start by placing firelighters and kindling in the middle of the stove. Build a small pyramid of kindling above the firelighters. Use matches to light the firelighters and wait for the kindling to catch fire.
2. Add Your Fuel:
Once the firelighters and kindling have caught fire, add pieces of wood or smaller logs to the burner. Maintain a pyramid structure to ensure air can reach the center of the fire. Close the stove door, leaving the narrow slot open for airflow.
3. Add Your Larger Logs:
As the fire builds, add larger logs to the stove until it's about one-third full. Keep the stove door shut but leave the vent open for proper airflow.
4. Monitor the Fire and Stir the Water:
Keep the fire burning by adding new logs before the flames die down. Stir the water in the hot tub periodically to ensure even heating. Replace the cover on the hot tub after stirring.
5. Wait for the Water to Reach Temperature:
It typically takes 1-2 bags of logs and 2-3 hours for the water to reach around 38 degrees Celsius, depending on the season. Monitor the temperature and continue adding logs as needed.
6. It's Time to Enjoy:
Once the water reaches your desired temperature, add another log to the fire and climb into the hot tub for a relaxing soak with your loved ones.
7. When You're Done:
After enjoying your hot tub session, place the lid back on to cover the water. This keeps the water warm overnight and prevents debris from falling in.
